TL;DR
This paper presents draft genomes of three Lactococcus lactis strains from sourdough, each containing multiple bacteriocin gene clusters, including nisin Z.
Contribution
The novelty lies in identifying multiple bacteriocin gene clusters, including nisin Z, in Lactococcus lactis strains from sourdough.
Findings
Three Lactococcus lactis strains from sourdough contain multiple bacteriocin gene clusters.
All three strains share a gene cluster encoding nisin Z.
Abstract
We report on the draft genome sequences of Lactococcus lactis strains A4_4, C1_19, and C8_26 isolated from sourdough. The strains were found to harbor multiple bacteriocin gene clusters, where one encoding nisin Z was found in all three strains.
