Abstract
Mangiferin (MF), a natural component widely found in fruits, vegetables, and herbs, has garnered increasing attention for its potent antioxidative properties and therapeutic potential. This bioactive xanthone compound plays a crucial role in mitigating oxidative stress, which is a key factor in the pathogenesis of various diseases, including liver diseases. As a powerful natural antioxidant, MF exhibits a wide range of hepatoprotective effects, making it a promising candidate for liver disease therapy. In this review, we systematically examine the source and chemical properties, synthetic pathways, pharmacokinetic characteristics, and bioavailability enhancement strategies of MF.
