Short version: Tomesphere is a free hobby project. No payment is needed to use the website, the atlas, the browser extension, or the MCP server. Use it, enjoy it, and please don’t abuse it.
It's free
Everything here is free to use. There is no payment, no card, no subscription, and nothing to buy. It’s free today and there is nothing to pay. If that ever changes, we’ll say so on this page first.
It's a hobby project
Tomesphere is built and run as a personal hobby project. It is provided as is, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or that any feature will keep working. Data may be incomplete or wrong, the service may go down, and things may change or disappear without notice. Don’t rely on it for anything critical, medical, legal, or financial.
The papers and data
Tomesphere indexes scientific papers and related data from public and open sources (such as arXiv, PubMed Central, bioRxiv, medRxiv, eLife, F1000, OpenAlex, and other open datasets). Copyright in each paper stays with its original authors and publishers. We link back to the original source, and the summaries, links, and enrichment we add are provided to help you find and read the real papers.
Fair use
Please use the site and the MCP normally. There are light daily rate limits that exist only to stop automated abuse from knocking the project over — they are not a paywall. Don’t scrape it in bulk, hammer it, or try to break it, so it stays up and free for everyone else.
No warranty / liability
Because this is a free hobby project provided as is, it comes with no warranties of any kind, and we aren’t liable for any loss or damage that comes from using it. You use Tomesphere at your own discretion.
Changes
These terms may change over time; the date at the top reflects the latest version. If anything material changes — including anything about cost — it will be posted here.
