TL;DR
This paper reports PHENIX experiment findings on how open heavy flavor particles are suppressed and flow in gold-gold collisions at high energy, providing insights into quark-gluon plasma properties.
Contribution
It provides new measurements of nuclear modification factor and elliptic flow for electrons from heavy flavor decays in Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV.
Findings
Suppression of heavy flavor electrons observed
Elliptic flow of heavy quarks measured
Insights into quark-gluon plasma dynamics gained
Abstract
The paper presents recent PHENIX results for the nuclear modification factor R_AA in Au + Au Collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV for the electrons originating from semi-leptonic decays of open heavy flavor carrying particles. We also report the results of the azimuthal asymmetry (v_2) measurement for those electrons, which is directly related to the heavy quark elliptic flow.
