TL;DR
This paper improves upon a 1961 result by providing refined conditions for when embedding operators are compact, and also constructs a counterexample to a previously published claim about such compactness.
Contribution
It offers an improved characterization of compact embedding operators and corrects a misconception in earlier literature with a counterexample.
Findings
Refined necessary and sufficient conditions for compactness.
Counterexample disproving a published statement.
Enhanced understanding of embedding operator properties.
Abstract
An improvement of the author's result, proved in 1961, concerning necessary and sufficient conditions for the compactness of embedding operators is given. A counterexample to a published statement concerning compactness of embedding operators is constructed.
