A model category structure on the category of simplicial categories
Julia E. Bergner

TL;DR
This paper establishes a new model category structure on small simplicial categories, defining weak equivalences as a simplicial analogue of category equivalences, facilitating homotopical analysis.
Contribution
It introduces a cofibrantly generated model structure on the category of small simplicial categories, expanding the tools for homotopical and categorical studies.
Findings
Defined weak equivalences as simplicial analogues of category equivalences
Constructed a cofibrantly generated model category structure
Enabled homotopical analysis of simplicial categories
Abstract
In this paper we put a cofibrantly generated model category structure on the category of small simplicial categories. The weak equivalences are a simplicial analogue of the notion of equivalence of categories.
