Decay to bound states of a soliton in a well
G. K\"albermann (Soil, Water department, Faculty of Agriculure,, Hebrew University, Israel)

TL;DR
This paper numerically investigates the decay, stability, and bound states of solitons in potential wells, revealing conditions for stable and unstable configurations.
Contribution
It introduces numerical analysis of soliton decay and stability in well potentials, including bound states and unstable solutions, expanding understanding of soliton dynamics in confined environments.
Findings
Bound states of a kink in an attractive well are identified.
Stable and unstable soliton solutions are characterized.
Unstable solutions inside a repulsive barrier are also found.
Abstract
The decay of a soliton in a trapped state inside a well is shown numerically. Bound states of a kink in an attractive well, both centered and off center are found. Their stability is studied. Unstable soliton solutions inside a repulsive barrier are also found.
