TL;DR
This paper rigorously analyzes the Mott insulator to Bose-Einstein condensate transition in a lattice boson model, establishing the critical line at lowest order in tunneling amplitude.
Contribution
It provides a mathematically rigorous perturbation theory approach to determine the critical line in the hard-core Bose-Hubbard model.

Abstract
We use mathematically rigorous perturbation theory to study the transition between the Mott insulator and the conjectured Bose-Einstein condensate in a hard-core Bose-Hubbard model. The critical line is established to lowest order in the tunneling amplitude.
