Laurent Houart, Yolanda Lozano

TL;DR
This paper systematically classifies all possible M-theory and type II branes as topological solitons in brane-antibrane systems, using Wess-Zumino terms in their effective actions.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive classification of branes as solitons, based on analyzing Wess-Zumino terms, advancing understanding of brane configurations in M-theory.
Findings
Complete classification of brane realizations as solitons.
Identification of Wess-Zumino terms governing brane configurations.
Framework for consistent brane-antibrane system analysis.
Abstract
We discuss in a systematic way all the possible realisations of branes of M and type II theories as topological solitons of a brane-antibrane system. The classification of all the possibilities, consistent with the structure of the theory, is achieved by studying the Wess-Zumino terms in the worldvolume effective actions of the branes of M-theory and their reductions.
