On the Deformation of $\Lambda$-Symmetry in B-field Background
M.M. Sheikh-Jabbari

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that the U(1) Lambda symmetry in open string theory becomes deformed into a noncommutative symmetry when a constant B-field background is present, affecting the gauge and B-field relationship.
Contribution
It reveals how the Lambda symmetry in open string sigma models is modified into a noncommutative form under a constant B-field background.
Findings
Lambda symmetry is deformed into a noncommutative version.
The deformation relates the B-field and gauge field in a noncommutative setting.
The result impacts understanding of gauge symmetries in string theory with background fields.
Abstract
In this note we will show that the symmetry, namely the U(1) symmetry of the open string sigma model which relates the B-field and the U(1) gauge field of a brane to each other, is deformed to a noncommutative version in a constant B-field background.
