Inflation and Gauge Hierarchy in Randall-Sundrum Compactification
Hang Bae Kim, Hyung Do Kim

TL;DR
This paper derives general inflationary solutions in a five-dimensional Randall-Sundrum model with an orbifold extra dimension, showing how it addresses the cosmological constant and gauge hierarchy problems through bulk-brane cosmological constant balancing.
Contribution
It provides the first comprehensive inflationary solutions for the RS model with an orbifold extra dimension, extending understanding beyond the static limit.
Findings
General inflationary solutions for the RS model are obtained.
The static limit recovers known RS solutions.
The model links the cosmological constant and hierarchy problems through cosmological constant balancing.
Abstract
We obtain the general inflationary solutions for the slab of five-dimensional AdS spacetime where the fifth dimension is an orbifold and two three-branes reside at its boundaries, of which the Randall-Sundrum model corresponds to the static limit. The investigation of the general solutions and their static limit reveals that the RS model recasts both the cosmological constant problem and the gauge hierarchy problem into the balancing problem of the bulk and the brane cosmological constants.
