S. Ishihara, H. Kataoka, Hikaru Sato

TL;DR
This paper analyzes four-dimensional N=1 type IIA orientifolds with various orbifold groups, calculating vacuum amplitudes, tadpole conditions, and constructing specific models, while discussing dualities with type IIB orientifolds.
Contribution
It provides explicit tadpole cancellation conditions for several Z_N orientifolds and constructs a Z_4 x Z_4 model with different brane configurations, advancing the understanding of consistent type IIA orientifolds.
Findings
Tadpole cancellation conditions satisfied for Z_4, Z_8, Z'_8, Z'_{12}
No solutions for Z_3, Z_7, Z_6, Z'_6, Z_{12}
Constructed Z_4 x Z_4 orientifold with four brane configurations
Abstract
We study D=4, N=1, type IIA orientifold with orbifold group and . We calculate one-loop vacuum amplitudes for Klein bottle, cylinder and Mobius strip and extract the tadpole divergences. We find that the tadpole cancellation conditions thus obtained are satisfied by the , , , orientifolds while there is no solution for , , , , . The type IIA orientifold is also constructed by introducing four different configurations of 6-branes. We argue about perturbative versus non-perturbative orientifold vacua under T- duality between the type IIA and the type IIB orientifolds in four dimensions.
