Solving Four Dimensional Field Theories with the Dirichlet Fivebrane
R. de Mello Koch, J.P. Rodrigues

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates how four-dimensional ${ m N}=2$ super Yang-Mills theories can be realized and analyzed using a single Dirichlet fivebrane in type IIB string theory, reproducing quantum effects through classical brane computations.
Contribution
It shows that the low energy effective action of ${ m N}=2$ super Yang-Mills theories can be derived from classical brane configurations, linking string theory and quantum field theory.
Findings
Classical brane computations reproduce quantum low energy effective actions.
Mirror symmetry provides a simple explanation for the results.
The approach offers a geometric understanding of ${ m N}=2$ theories.
Abstract
The realization of four dimensional super Yang-Mills theories in terms of a single Dirichlet fivebrane in type IIB string theory is considered. A classical brane computation reproduces the full quantum low energy effective action. This result has a simple explanation in terms of mirror symmetry.
