TL;DR
This paper derives R-symmetry anomalies for six-dimensional tensor-multiplet theories from M-theory anomaly cancellation, linking them to black hole entropy, supergravity Chern-Simons terms, and AdS/CFT corrections.
Contribution
It provides a novel derivation of anomalies in (0,2) theories using anomaly cancellation and clarifies their role in supergravity and holography.
Findings
Derived R-symmetry anomalies for tensor-multiplet theories.
Connected anomaly cancellation to black hole entropy calculations.
Highlighted implications for AdS/CFT 1/N corrections.
Abstract
We use the anomaly cancellation of the M-theory fivebrane to derive the R-symmetry anomalies of the tensor-multiplet theories. This result leads to a simple derivation of black hole entropy in compactifications of -theory. We also show how the formalism of normal bundle anomaly cancellation clarifies the Kaluza-Klein origin of Chern-Simons terms in gauged supergravity theories. The results imply the existence of interesting 1/N corrections in the AdS/CFT correspondence.
