Bayram Tekin, Kamran Saririan, Yutaka Hosotani

TL;DR
This paper explores complex monopole solutions in a 3D gauge theory with a Chern-Simons term, revealing their role in vacuum disordering without confinement, and discusses related gauge fixing subtleties.
Contribution
It introduces complex monopole solutions in the Georgi-Glashow-Chern-Simons model and analyzes their impact on the vacuum structure and gauge fixing issues.
Findings
Complex monopoles have finite action and dominate the path integral.
They disorder the Higgs vacuum without confining electric charges.
Gauge fixing subtleties and Gribov copies are discussed.
Abstract
We investigate the three dimensional Georgi-Glashow model with a Chern-Simons term. We find that there exist complex monopole solutions of finite action. They dominate the path integral and disorder the Higgs vacuum, but electric charges are not confined. Subtleties in the gauge fixing procedure in the path integral and issues related to Gribov copies are noted.
