Tachyon Condensation on the Brane Antibrane System
Ashoke Sen

TL;DR
This paper discusses how tachyon condensation in a brane-antibrane system leads to a stable, zero-energy state that restores supersymmetry, providing insights into string theory dynamics.
Contribution
It presents a classical analysis showing the cancellation of energy density at the tachyon potential minimum, revealing a supersymmetric vacuum in brane-antibrane systems.
Findings
Tachyon potential minimum cancels brane tensions
Restoration of space-time supersymmetry at the minimum
Stable zero-energy configuration achieved
Abstract
A coincident D-brane - anti-D-brane pair has a tachyonic mode. We present an argument showing that at the classical minimum of the tachyonic potential the negative energy density associated with the potential exactly cancels the sum of the tension of the brane and the anti-brane, thereby giving a configuration of zero energy density and restoring space-time supersymmetry.
