D-instanton partition functions
Michael B. Green (DAMTP, University of Cambridge, UK), Michael, Gutperle (Princeton University)

TL;DR
This paper uses duality to compute D-instanton contributions in type II supergravity, deriving exact partition functions for finite N D-instanton matrix models in 4 and 6 dimensions, extending previous 10D results.
Contribution
It provides new exact expressions for D-instanton partition functions in lower dimensions, generalizing earlier 10D results and confirming consistency with duality principles.
Findings
Exact partition functions for d=4 and 6 D-instanton matrix models.
Consistency with the non-vanishing Witten index only in d=10.
Extension of previous 10D results to lower dimensions.
Abstract
Duality arguments are used to determine D-instanton contributions to certain effective interaction terms of type II supergravity theories in various dimensions. This leads to exact expressions for the partition functions of the finite N D-instanton matrix model in d=4 and 6 dimensions that generalize our previous expression for the case d=10. These results are consistent with the fact that the Witten index of the T-dual D-particle process should only be non-vanishing for d=10.
