Variational Principle in the Algebra of Asymptotic Fields
O.W. Greenberg (University of Maryland, College Park)

TL;DR
This paper introduces a variational principle for quantum field theories using asymptotic fields as trial functions, providing a new approach to solving such theories.
Contribution
It proposes a novel variational method based on the algebra of asymptotic fields for quantum field theories.
Findings
Illustrated the variational principle in simple cases.
Provided a framework for applying the principle to quantum field solutions.
Abstract
This paper proposes a variational principle for the solutions of quantum field theories in which the ``trial functions'' are chosen from the algebra of asymptotic fields, and illustrates this variational principle in simple cases.
