Boris K\"ors, Michael G. Schmidt

TL;DR
This paper computes the two-loop effective action in scalar and spinor QED within a general constant electromagnetic field using the Worldline formalism, advancing understanding of quantum effects in strong fields.
Contribution
It introduces a novel calculation of the two-loop Euler-Heisenberg effective action for scalar and spinor QED in arbitrary constant fields using the Worldline formalism.
Findings
Explicit two-loop effective actions derived for scalar and spinor QED.
Method demonstrates the applicability of the Worldline formalism to complex quantum calculations.
Results facilitate better understanding of quantum electrodynamics in strong, constant electromagnetic backgrounds.
Abstract
Using the Worldline formalism of QED we compute the two-loop effective action induced by a charged scalar, respectively spinor particle in a general constant electromagnetic field.
