W. Kummer, H. Liebl (Vienna, Tech. U.), D.V. Vassilevich (St., Petersburg University)

TL;DR
This paper critiques a previous calculation of the trace anomaly for nonminimally coupled scalars in spherically reduced gravity, clarifying errors and reaffirming the correct result supported by recent research.
Contribution
It identifies and explains errors in a prior trace anomaly calculation, providing a corrected result consistent with recent studies.
Findings
Previous trace anomaly results were incorrect.
The corrected calculation aligns with recent literature.
Clarifies the reasons for deviations in earlier work.
Abstract
The trace anomaly for nonminimally coupled scalars in spherically reduced gravity obtained by Bousso and Hawking (hep-th/9705236) is incorrect. We explain the reasons for the deviations from our correct (published) result which is supported by several other recent papers.
