TL;DR
This paper numerically computes the Casimir energy of quantum fluctuations around a classical kink in a lattice sine-Gordon model, revealing a sinusoidal dependence on the kink position.
Contribution
It introduces a numerical method to evaluate the Casimir energy in a lattice sine-Gordon model and characterizes its periodic behavior.
Findings
Casimir energy depends periodically on kink position
Energy variation is approximately sinusoidal
Provides numerical insights into quantum fluctuations in lattice models
Abstract
The Casimir energy of quantum fluctuations about the classical kink configuration is computed numerically for a recently proposed lattice sine-Gordon model. This energy depends periodically on the kink position and is found to be approximately sinusoidal.
