TL;DR
This paper compares the (0,2) theory of M5-branes with a matrix model approach, testing its validity for multiple branes and exploring compactifications, revealing insights into the operator content and quantum mechanics descriptions.
Contribution
It introduces a matrix model description of the (0,2) theory of M5-branes and analyzes its implications for multi-brane systems and compactifications.
Findings
Matrix model matches single M5-brane (0,2) theory in certain limits.
Constraints on operator content of multi-brane (0,2) theory derived.
Large-scale compactifications relate to super-quantum mechanics on instanton moduli spaces.
Abstract
We compare the theory of the single M5 brane decoupled from gravity in the lightcone with transverse , and a matrix model description in terms of quantum mechanics on instanton moduli space. We give some tests of the Matrix model in the case of multi fivebranes on . We extract constraints on the operator content of the field theory of the multi-fivebrane system by analyzing the Matrix model. We also begin a study of compactifications of the theory in this framework, arguing that for large compactification scale the theory is described by super-quantum mechanics on appropriate instanton moduli spaces.
