Singular Yukawa and gauge couplings in d=4 Heterotic String Vacua
Matthias Klein, Jan Louis

TL;DR
This paper investigates the singularities in Yukawa and gauge couplings in four-dimensional heterotic string compactifications, attributing them to non-perturbative strong coupling effects of confined gauge groups.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of the origin of singularities in Yukawa and gauge couplings within N=1 heterotic string vacua, emphasizing non-perturbative dynamics.
Findings
Singularities can originate from strong coupling effects of confined gauge groups.
The analysis links non-perturbative phenomena to coupling singularities.
Insights into the structure of heterotic string vacua are gained.
Abstract
In this paper we discuss the singularities in the Yukawa and gauge couplings of N=1 compactifications of the SO(32) heterotic string in four space-time dimensions. Such singularities can arise from the strong coupling dynamics of a confined non-perturbative gauge group.
