Born-Infeld Action and Chern-Simons Term from Kaluza-Klein Monopole in M-theory
Yosuke Imamura

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates how the Born-Infeld action and Chern-Simons term for a D6-brane emerge from the zero modes of the Kaluza-Klein monopole in M-theory, highlighting their quadratic field strength dependence.
Contribution
It shows the derivation of D6-brane effective actions from M-theory monopole zero modes, connecting higher-dimensional theories to brane dynamics.
Findings
Born-Infeld and Chern-Simons terms are reproduced from Kaluza-Klein monopole zero modes.
The derivation is valid to quadratic order in the U(1) field strength.
Provides a link between M-theory monopoles and D-brane effective actions.
Abstract
We investigate the zero modes of the Kaluza-Klein monopole in M-theory and show that the Born-Infeld action and the Chern-Simons term of a D6-brane are reproduced to quadratic order in the field strength of the U(1) field on the brane.
