On the classification of (2,1) heterotic strings
E. Rabinovici, A.N. Schellekens

TL;DR
This paper classifies all untwisted (2,1) heterotic strings, confirming only three known solutions with specific massless spectra, thus providing a complete understanding of this class.
Contribution
It provides a complete classification of untwisted (2,1) heterotic strings, identifying only the three previously known solutions.
Findings
Only three solutions exist with specified spectra
Massless spectra include chiral fermions, bosons, or mixed scalars and fermions
No additional solutions found in the classification
Abstract
We classify all untwisted (2,1) heterotic strings. The only solutions are the three already known cases, having massless spectra consisting either of 24 chiral fermions, or of 24 bosons, or of 8 scalars and 8 fermions of each chirality.
