TL;DR
This paper compares the spectrum of chiral multiplets in N=1 vacua of heterotic string theory and F-theory, demonstrating agreement through index computations under specific conditions.
Contribution
It provides a detailed comparison of chiral spectra in heterotic and F-theory compactifications, establishing their equivalence in certain scenarios.
Findings
Spectrum of chiral multiplets matches in both theories.
Index computations confirm the agreement.
Results support duality between heterotic and F-theory models.
Abstract
We compare the spectrum of chiral multiplets in the N=1 vacua of the heterotic string on a Calabi-Yau together with an vector bundle and F-theory on a smooth Calabi-Yau fourfold. Under suitable restrictions we show agreement using an index-computation.
