Canonical Equivalence of a Generic 2D Dilaton Gravity Model and a Bosonic String Theory
J. Cruz, J. Navarro-Salas

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that a generic 2D dilaton gravity model can be transformed into a bosonic string theory with Minkowskian target space through a canonical transformation, revealing a deep equivalence between these two frameworks.
Contribution
The work establishes a canonical equivalence between 2D dilaton gravity and bosonic string theory, providing new insights into their relationship and potential unified descriptions.
Findings
Canonical transformation relates 2D dilaton gravity to string theory.
Boundary terms do not affect the equivalence.
Provides a new perspective on 2D gravity and string theory connection.
Abstract
We show that a canonical tranformation converts, up to a boundary term, a generic 2d dilaton gravity model into a bosonic string theory with a Minkowskian target space.
