P.S. Howe, E. Sezgin, P.C. West

TL;DR
This paper derives covariant equations of motion for the M theory five-brane from superspace, demonstrating their reduction to 4-brane equations governed by the Born-Infeld action in ten dimensions.
Contribution
It provides the first fully covariant component form of the five-brane equations of motion from superspace, linking eleven-dimensional M theory to ten-dimensional brane dynamics.
Findings
Derived covariant 6D equations of motion for the 5-brane.
Showed reduction to 4-brane equations in 10D with Born-Infeld action.
Established connection between M theory five-brane and D-brane dynamics.
Abstract
The component form of the equations of motion for the 5-brane in eleven-dimensions is derived from the superspace equations. These equations are fully covariant in six-dimensions. It is shown that double-dimensional reduction of the bosonic equations gives the equations of motion for a 4-brane in ten dimensions governed by the Born-Infeld action.
