S-Duality and Exact Type IIB Superstring Backgrounds
Gautam Sengupta

TL;DR
This paper investigates higher order corrections to specific Type IIB superstring backgrounds with null isometry and Ramond-Ramond fields, demonstrating their exactness under certain conditions via a geometrical approach and S-duality.
Contribution
It introduces a geometrical method to analyze higher order $lpha'$ corrections in Type IIB backgrounds and establishes their exactness through S-duality transformations.
Findings
Backgrounds are exact under specific field redefinitions.
Existence of certain restrictive conditions ensures background exactness.
Method applies to generalized supersymmetric string waves.
Abstract
A geometrical approach in the non-symmetric connection framework is employed to examine the issue of higher order corrections to D=10 type IIB superstring backgrounds with a covariantly constant null Killing isometry and non-zero Ramond-Ramond field content. These describe generalized supersymmetric string waves and were obtained recently by us through the S-duality transformation of purely NS-NS plane wave backgrounds. We find that the backgrounds are exact subject to the existence of certain field redefinitions and provided certain restrictive conditions are satisfied.
