Mini-Instantons in SU(2) Gauge Theory
Vincenzo Branchina, Janos Polonyi

TL;DR
This paper investigates the influence of instantons near the cutoff in four-dimensional SU(2) gauge theory with higher derivative terms, revealing that convergence of topological observables depends on a non-universal beta function.
Contribution
It introduces the study of instanton effects near the cutoff in SU(2) gauge theory with higher derivatives, highlighting the necessity of a non-universal beta function for convergence.
Findings
Convergence of topological observables depends on a non-universal beta function.
Instantons near the cutoff significantly affect gauge theory behavior.
Higher order derivatives modify instanton contributions.
Abstract
The effects of instantons close to the cut-off is studied in four dimensional SU(2) gauge theory with higher order derivative terms in the action. It is found in the framework of the dilute instanton gas approximation that the convergence of the topological observables requires non-universal beta function.
