Stefano De Leo, Pietro Rotelli (Dip. di Fisica, Univ. di Lecce)

TL;DR
This paper develops a quaternionic formulation of the electroweak theory, exploring gauge groups, complex projections, and the significance of scalar solutions within this framework.
Contribution
It introduces a novel quaternionic approach to electroweak theory, extending the gauge group structure and analyzing the role of scalar solutions.
Findings
Quaternionic gauge group $U(1, q)_L$ and $U(1, c)_Y$ formulated
Complex projection necessary for the Lagrangian explained
Physical significance of scalar solutions discussed
Abstract
We explicitly develop a quaternionic version of the electroweak theory, based on the local gauge group . The need of a complex projection for our Lagrangian and the physical significance of the anomalous scalar solutions are also discussed.
