TL;DR
This paper introduces a novel string model derived from a random lattice with 1/p-squared propagators, leading to a new string action with dual worldsheet metrics and implications for four-dimensional spacetime.
Contribution
It presents a new string formulation based on a random lattice with modified propagators, incorporating dual worldsheet metrics and connecting spacetime dimensionality to T-duality.
Findings
Defines a new string action with two worldsheet metrics.
Shows the propagators correspond to curved lightlike paths.
Suggests four-dimensional spacetime from T-duality considerations.
Abstract
We introduce a random lattice corresponding to ordinary Feynman diagrams, with 1/p-squared propagators instead of the Gaussians used in the usual strings. The continuum limit defines a new type of string action with two worldsheet metrics, one Minkowskian and one Euclidean. The propagators correspond to curved lightlike paths with respect to the Minkowskian worldsheet metric. Spacetime dimensionality of four is implied not only as the usual critical dimension of renormalizable quantum field theory, but also from T-duality.
