Threshhold Singularities and the Magnetic Mass in Hot QCD
R. Jackiw (MIT), So-Young Pi (Boston University)

TL;DR
This paper examines the one-loop gap equation for magnetic mass in hot QCD, presenting an alternative equation that does not predict mass generation at this order, challenging previous assumptions.
Contribution
It introduces an alternative gap equation for the magnetic mass in hot QCD that shows no mass generation at one-loop level, questioning existing models.
Findings
The original gap equation predicts magnetic mass generation.
The alternative gap equation shows no mass at one-loop level.
This raises questions about the validity of previous mass generation predictions.
Abstract
We discuss the recently devised one-loop gap equation for the magnetic mass of hot QCD. An alternative, and one would hope equivalent, gap equation is presented, which however shows no mass generation at the one-loop level.
