Boundary States of D-Branes and Dy-Strings
Miao Li (Brown University)

TL;DR
This paper constructs boundary states for D-branes and dy-strings, deriving the string tension formula in type IIB theory, advancing the understanding of bound states with mixed charges.
Contribution
It provides a rigorous construction of boundary states for D-branes and dy-strings, confirming duality predictions for string tensions in type IIB theory.
Findings
Boundary states for D-branes and dy-strings are explicitly constructed.
The string tension formula predicted by duality is derived.
The work supports the consistency of bound states with mixed charges.
Abstract
Polchinski's recent construction of Dirichlet-branes of R-R charges, together with Witten's mechanism for forming bound states of both NS-NS charges and R-R charges, provides a rigorous method to treat these dy-branes. We construct the massless sector of boundary states of D-branes, as well as of dy-strings of charge . As a consequence, the string tension formula predicted by duality in the type IIB theory is obtained.
