A One-Loop Test Of String Duality
Cumrun Vafa, Edward Witten

TL;DR
This paper tests the duality between type IIA and heterotic string theories in six dimensions by analyzing anomalies and demonstrating their correspondence through perturbative corrections.
Contribution
It provides a one-loop test of string duality by linking sigma model anomalies to perturbative corrections in dual theories.
Findings
Sigma model anomaly of heterotic string matches one-loop correction in type IIA
Supports the validity of type IIA-heterotic duality in six dimensions
Shows anomaly generation through combined tree level and one-loop effects
Abstract
We test type IIA-heterotic string duality in six dimensions by showing that the sigma model anomaly of the heterotic string is generated by a combination of a tree level and a string one-loop correction on the type IIA side.
