TL;DR
This paper discusses the properties of a D-instanton gas, which are non-perturbative effects in string theory arising from space-time events with world-sheet boundaries.
Contribution
It provides an analysis of the properties and implications of a gas of D-instantons in string theory.
Findings
D-instantons contribute non-perturbative effects to string amplitudes
Properties of D-instanton gases are characterized
Implications for string theory amplitudes are discussed
Abstract
A D-instanton is a space-time event associated with world-sheet boundaries that contributes non-perturbative effects of order to closed-string amplitudes. Some properties of a gas of D-instantons are discussed in this paper.
