What's Wrong with Pauli-Villars Regularization in $QED_{3}$ ?
B. M. Pimentel, J. L. Tomazelli

TL;DR
This paper clarifies that Pauli-Villars regularization in (2+1)-dimensional QED can be consistent with other methods for dynamical mass generation if regulator couplings are chosen correctly.
Contribution
It demonstrates that the ambiguity in regularization methods can be resolved in (2+1)D QED by proper regulator coupling choices.
Findings
Proper regulator couplings remove ambiguity in regularization methods.
Pauli-Villars regularization is consistent with other methods when correctly implemented.
No fundamental issues with Pauli-Villars in dynamical mass generation in (2+1)D QED.
Abstract
In this letter we argue that there is no ambiguity between the Pauli-Villars and other methods of regularization in (2+1)-dimensional quantum electrodynamics with respect to dynamical mass generation, provided we properly choose the couplings for the regulators.
