Shamit Kachru

TL;DR
This paper presents new three-generation Calabi-Yau models in string theory where the gauge connection's VEV differs from the spin connection, expanding the landscape of viable compactifications.
Contribution
It introduces specific examples of three-generation models using generalized Calabi-Yau compactifications with non-standard gauge and spin connection relations.
Findings
Examples of three-generation models with realistic gauge groups.
Validation of non-standard Calabi-Yau compactifications as classical solutions.
Potential implications for string phenomenology.
Abstract
It has recently been realized that a large class of Calabi-Yau models in which the VEV of the gauge connection is not set equal to the spin connection of the Calabi-Yau manifold are valid classical solutions of string theory. We provide some examples of three generation models based on such generalized Calabi-Yau compactifications, including models with observable gauge group .
