Andrei Bytsenko, Klaus Kirsten, Sergio Zerbini

TL;DR
This paper investigates whether twisted p-branes exhibit asymptotic properties similar to black holes by calculating their state degeneracy and analyzing the influence of winding numbers.
Contribution
It provides an explicit calculation of the total level degeneracy of twisted p-branes and examines how the degeneracy's prefactor depends on the winding number.
Findings
Degeneracy depends on winding number
Explicit form of p-brane degeneracy derived
Comparison with black hole state density conducted
Abstract
An attempt is made to compare the asymptotic state density of twisted -branes and the related state density of mass level of a -dimensional neutral black hole. To this aim, the explicit form of the twisted -brane total level degeneracy is calculated. The prefactor of the degeneracy, in contrast to the leading behaviour, is found to depend on the winding number of the -brane.
