$~N=2$~ Superstring Theory Generates Supersymmetric Chern-Simons Theories
Hitoshi Nishino

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that the four-dimensional self-dual supersymmetric Yang-Mills action derived from N=2 superstring theory can generate lower-dimensional N=1 and N=2 supersymmetric Chern-Simons theories through dimensional reduction, highlighting the superstring's fundamental role.
Contribution
It reveals that N=2 superstring theory underpins the generation of supersymmetric Chern-Simons theories in lower dimensions, connecting superstring theory with integrable models.
Findings
Dimensional reduction yields N=1 and N=2 supersymmetric Chern-Simons actions.
Superstring theory's action generates lower-dimensional supersymmetric gauge theories.
Indicates N=2 superstring controls supersymmetric integrable models.
Abstract
Abstrct: We show that the action of self-dual supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in four-dimensions, which describes the consistent massless background fields for ~ superstring, generates the actions for ~ and ~ supersymmetric non-Abelian Chern-Simons theories in three-dimensions after appropriate dimensional reductions. Since the latters play important roles for supersymmetric integrable models, this result indicates the fundamental significance of the ~ superstring theory controlling (possibly all) supersymmetric integrable models in lower-dimensions.
