The BRST Operator for the Large $N=4$ Superconformal Algebra
Fiorenzo Bastianelli, Nobuyoshi Ohta

TL;DR
This paper reviews the large N=4 superconformal algebra, constructs its BRST operator, and identifies conditions for critical N=4 string theories, advancing understanding of their algebraic structure and quantization.
Contribution
It introduces the explicit form of the BRST operator for the large N=4 superconformal algebra and derives conditions for its nilpotency, revealing a line of critical N=4 string theories.
Findings
Existence of a line of critical N=4 string theories.
Explicit construction of the BRST operator for the algebra.
Derived conditions for BRST nilpotency.
Abstract
We review the detailed structure of the large superconformal algebra, and construct its BRST operator which constitutes the main object for analyzing strings. We then derive the general condition for the nilpotency of the BRST operator and show that there exists a line of critical string theories.
