L. Girardello, A. Zaffaroni

TL;DR
This paper presents new proofs of decoupling of massive fields in quantum field theories using Wilson renormalization group, especially simplifying the case of gauge theories with spontaneous symmetry breaking.
Contribution
It introduces a novel approach combining Wilson renormalization group and quantum action principle to prove decoupling to all orders in gauge theories.
Findings
Decoupling of massive fields is proven in various quantum field theories.
The approach simplifies proofs in gauge theories with spontaneous symmetry breaking.
All-order decoupling results are established.
Abstract
New proves of decoupling of massive fields in several quantum field theories are derived in the effective Lagrangian approach based on Wilson renormalization group. In the most interesting case of gauge theories with spontaneous symmetry breaking, the approach, combined with the quantum action principle, leads to a rather simple proof to all orders.
