H. Kawabe, T. Kobayashi, N. Ohtsubo

TL;DR
This paper investigates how minimal supersymmetric standard models can be derived from $Z_8$ orbifold models, focusing on gauge coupling unification and anomaly cancellation, and identifies models achieving SU(3) and SU(2) unification.
Contribution
It systematically explores $Z_8$ orbifold models to find configurations that realize gauge coupling unification consistent with anomaly cancellation constraints.
Findings
Some models achieve SU(3) and SU(2) gauge coupling unification.
The study demonstrates the viability of $Z_8$ orbifold models for minimal supersymmetric standard model construction.
Constraints from duality anomaly cancellation guide model selection.
Abstract
We study the construction of the minimal supersymmetric standard model from the orbifold models. We use a target-space duality anomaly cancellation and a unification of gauge couplings as constraints. It is shown that some models obtained through a systematical search realize the unification of SU(3) and SU(2) coupling constants.
