Space-Time Transitions in String Theory
Edward Witten

TL;DR
This paper discusses how mean field methods can describe transitions between various space-time models in string theory, including Calabi-Yau manifolds and related correspondences.
Contribution
It introduces a mean field approach to analyze space-time transitions in string theory, covering both geometric and non-geometric models.
Findings
Mean field methods effectively describe Calabi-Yau transitions
Transitions between Calabi-Yau and Landau-Ginzberg models are characterized
New insights into string theory phase transitions are provided
Abstract
Simple mean field methods can be used to describe transitions between different space-time models in string theory. These include transitions between different Calabi-Yau manifolds, and more exotic things such as the Calabi-Yau/Landau-Ginzberg correspondence.
