Charged Topological Solitons in 4+1 Dimensional YMCS Theory
C.S.Aulakh

TL;DR
Adding a Chern-Simons term to 5D SU(N) Yang-Mills theory causes the self-dual topological solitons to acquire a topological electric charge, revealing new charged soliton solutions.
Contribution
This work demonstrates that Chern-Simons terms induce electric charge in topological solitons within 5D Yang-Mills theories, a novel insight into their properties.
Findings
Self-dual solitons gain electric charge due to Chern-Simons term.
Charged topological solitons are a direct consequence of the added term.
The results extend understanding of soliton solutions in higher-dimensional gauge theories.
Abstract
We show that when a Chern-Simons term is added to the action of () Yang-Mills theory in 5 dimensions the usual self-dual topological solitons present in the theory necessarily pick up a (topological) electric charge.
