Gauge Transformations in String Field Theory and canonical Transformation in String Theory
J. Maharana, S. mukherji

TL;DR
This paper explores the relationship between canonical transformations in first quantized string theory and gauge transformations in string field theory, providing examples and identifying field correspondences.
Contribution
It demonstrates how canonical transformations can be interpreted as gauge transformations in string field theory and links fields in string field theory to sigma-model counterparts.
Findings
Canonical transformations correspond to gauge transformations in string field theory.
Examples illustrate the gauge transformation interpretation.
Identified field correspondences between string field theory and sigma-models.
Abstract
We study how canonical transfomations in first quantized string theory can be understood as gauge transformations in string field theory. We establish this fact by working out some examples. As a by product, we could identify some of the fields appearing in string field theory with their counterparts in the -model.
