Global properties of an exact string theory solution in two and four dimensions
Harald G. Svendsen

TL;DR
This paper explores the global structure of exact string theory solutions in two and four dimensions, focusing on black hole and Taub-NUT models, their analytic continuations, test particle dynamics, and T-duality effects.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of the global properties and dualities of exact string solutions with CFT descriptions, revealing non-singular extended spacetimes.
Findings
T-duality maps different regions of the solutions, removing singularities.
Analytic continuations extend the solutions beyond original coordinate patches.
Test particle motion offers insights into the spacetime structure.
Abstract
This paper discusses global properties of exact (in alpha prime) string theory solutions: A deformed black hole solution in two dimensions and a Taub-NUT type solution in four dimensions. These models are exact by virtue of having CFT descriptions in terms of heterotic coset models. The analysis includes analytic continuations of the metric, motion of test particles, and the T-duality which acts as a map between different regions of the extended solutions, rendering the physical spacetimes non-singular.
