TL;DR
This paper develops a field theoretic framework for the Josephson effect, extending it to non-abelian symmetries, and applies it to SO(5) superconductivity, providing new insights into pseudo-Goldstone bosons.
Contribution
It introduces a field theoretic formulation of the Josephson effect that generalizes to non-abelian symmetries, with applications to SO(5) superconductivity.
Findings
Formalism successfully describes non-abelian Josephson effect
Application to SO(5) superconductivity demonstrates the approach
Provides insights into pseudo-Goldstone bosons in this context
Abstract
We formulate the Josephson effect in a field theoretic language which affords a straightforward generalization to the non-abelian case. We give some examples and apply the formalism to the case of SO(5) superconductivity.
