Large N, Z_N Strings and Bag Models
Stefano Bolognesi

TL;DR
This paper investigates Z_N strings in nonabelian gauge theories, analyzing their structure as domain walls stabilized by flux, and explores their connection to bag models of hadrons in the large N limit.
Contribution
It introduces a novel approach to modeling Z_N strings as stabilized domain walls, linking gauge theory configurations with phenomenological bag models in the large N limit.
Findings
Z_N strings can be viewed as domain walls compactified on a cylinder.
The large N limit enhances the reliability of the wall vortex approximation.
Connections are established between gauge theory strings and hadronic bag models.
Abstract
We study Z_N strings in nonabelian gauge theories, when they can be considered as domain walls compactified on a cylinder and stabilized by the flux inside. To make the wall vortex approximation reliable, we must take the 't Hooft large N limit. Our construction has many points in common with the phenomenological bag models of hadrons.
