V.B. Kopeliovich, B. Piette, W.J. Zakrzewski

TL;DR
This paper explores different mass terms in the Skyrme model and their effects on baryonic states, showing that the choice of mass term can significantly alter the classical mass and binding properties of multibaryon configurations.
Contribution
It introduces various mass terms in the Skyrme model and analyzes their impact on soliton properties and multibaryon binding, highlighting the importance of mass term selection.
Findings
Mass term choice affects soliton mass contributions.
Certain mass terms enable classical binding of multibaryons.
Adjusting mass terms influences the asymptotic behavior of profile functions.
Abstract
We consider various forms of the mass term that can be used in the Skyrme model and their implications on the properties of baryonic states. We show that, with an appropriate choice for the mass term, without changing the asymptotic behaviour of the profile functions at large , we can considerably reduce or increase the mass term's contribution to the classical mass of the solitons. We find that multibaryon configurations can be classically bound at large baryon numbers for some choices of this mass term.
